The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Stories come in all shapes and sizes.  Some as ancient and prescient as Oedipus Rex or The Odyssey; others as modern and disturbing as Rollerball and The Hunger Games…and, of course, everything in between.

The Storymatic gave you a roadmap, but also handcuffed you from taking alternative routes.  Your own short story gives you the freedom of the Wild West–you can go almost anywhere, even to the Final Frontier.  We begin writing soon.

Your notes on character, conflict, setting, showing vs. telling, syntax, plot and theme will help you create a publishable story.  We’ll get to notes on syntax tomorrow with “The Emissary” and plot on Friday with “The Monkey’s Paw”.  Theme will come next week.
