Nothing Rhymes With “Fascist”

October 15, 2012

Brass–impudent aggressiveness

Impudent–improperly forward or bold

Gall–the trait of being rude and impertinent

Chutzpah–(Yiddish) unbelievable gall
“Chutzpah is that quality enshrined in a man who, having killed his mother and father, throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan.”

Napoleon has none of these qualities.

Abraham Lincoln once said, “Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation we began by declaring that ‘all men are created equal.’ When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read ‘all men are created equal, except Negroes and foreigners and Catholics.’ When it comes to this, I shall prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretense of loving liberty — to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.” …and that was 1855…

That’s more like it. If you’re going to be a brutal tyrant, at least have the guts to do so honestly, and forthrightly. Despots who hide behind a cloak of lies belittle us just that tiny fraction more making the suffering they inflict a joke, rather than the cruelty it is.

The family tree of cruel tyrants has a long and horrid history.
Pol Pot
Adolph Hitler
Joseph Stalin
Genghis Khan
Ivan the Terrible
Augusto Pinochet
Kim Jong Il

The sad truth is there is a limited number of good people in the world, but the supply of tyrants never stops growing.

“Now you can join the ranks of the illustrious
In history’s great dark hall of fame
All our greatest killers were industrious
At least the ones that we all know by name

But you can reach the top of your profession
If you become the leader of the land
For murder is the sport of the elected
And you don’t need to lift a finger of your hand…

Welcome to my nightmare.

We reviewed chapter 7 and did work on the Battle for the Overpass. Chapter 8 for tomorrow.

Power to the people!
